NUR 321 - INTRODUCTION TO HEALTH PROMOTION FOR ABSN STUDENTS

This course introduces the accelerated baccalaureate student to the concepts of health promotion and disease prevention as they are applied with diverse populations in a variety of settings. The course will provide didactic and laboratory experiences that enable the students to provide beginning professional nursing care with individuals and families requiring interventions. Students will use the key concepts of nursing process, teaching-learning, and physical and psychosocial assessment in the care of people with basic alterations in ability to meet human needs. In addition, students will develop critical thinking skills useful to the nurse in promoting health in individuals and families. This course is a Graduation Composition and Communication Requirement (GCCR) course in certain programs, and hence is not likely to be eligible for automatic transfer credit to UK. There are three courses required to complete the Graduation Composition Communication Requirement (GCCR) which are NUR 321, NUR 328 , & NUR 426 .

Prereq: Admittance to the College of Nursing ABSN Track, certification in BCLS, completion of HIPPA, and verification of health insurance.
