The Dr. Bing Zhang Department of Statistics at the University of Kentucky is concerned with three essential functions: teaching, research, and consulting in statistics.

The department does not offer an undergraduate degree, but students may elect to include statistics as part of a topical major or to minor in statistics. The program in mathematical sciences also includes several statistics courses. The Master of Science and the Doctor of Philosophy degree are offered, as well as a Graduate Certificate in Applied Statistics.

Research is being actively pursued in statistical theory and methods, both parametric and nonparametric, linear models, inference, stochastic processes, applied probability, and biostatistics.

Consultation on statistical analysis and interpretation of data is provided to research workers on and off the campus. Particular attention is paid to the consulting needs of graduate students.
